Elizabeth Cañas
She is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the area of Personality, Psychological Assessment and Treatment in the Department of Health Psychology at the University of Alicante. She obtained her Degree in Psychology in 2014 from the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH), where she received the “5-Star University Student” award.
She completed her PhD in 2021 at the same university, following her predoctoral training as a researcher in the Department of Health Psychology. This period was funded through the VALi+d Programme for Researchers in Training, supported by the Regional Ministry of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society of the Valencian Government. She has also completed postgraduate training in Health Psychology, General Health Psychology, and Eating Disorders.
She is a member of the LISIS Research Group, which focuses on bullying and cyberbullying behaviours among children and adolescents. She has also been part of the research team for the State Plan for R&D&I funded project entitled “Bullying and cyberbullying among peers and in adolescent couples: from emotional regulation to suicidal ideation” (2020–2023). In addition, she is a member of the PSYBHE research group (Applied Psychology to Health and Human Behaviour), where her research focuses on topics related to eating behaviour and body image. She is also a member of the Working Group on Eating Disorders and Obesity of the Official College of Psychologists of the Valencian Community.
She is the author of several scientific articles, book chapters and conference papers presented at national and international conferences. She currently carries out her teaching activities at the University of Alicante, delivering modules in Applied Criminology in the Criminology degree and Foundations of Psychology in the Social Work degree, as well as postgraduate teaching in the Master’s Degree in Teacher Training for Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Schools at UMH.
